This sculpture is in front of the Hearst Tower in Uptown Charlotte.
It's by artist Howard Ben Tré.

149/366 (2012): Terrapene carolina

My dogs and I saw this female eastern box turtle (Terrapene carolina) while out on our morning walk. It was the first time my younger dog had ever encountered a turtle and she was afraid.

FYI: The female eastern box turtle shell is more domed than the male's shell.

148/366 (2012): Otter Box

I get a kick out of the fact that OtterBoxes are one of the best cell phone covers on the market. Every where I go I see them. And they really work. My son accidentally dropped his iPhone into his fish tank and the OtterBox saved it from a watery grave.

I've never given a plug to a product before but I'm making an exception. Go OtterBox Go!

145/366 (2012): Art Studio Makeover — The After

Here's another look at the newly redesigned art studio. The Elfa modular shelving helped me organize the entire room. Before many items didn't have a place, so they cluttered up the tables. Now everything has it's own drawer, which frees up workspace for projects.

144/366 (2012): The Art Studio Makeover (After)

I finally finished my art studio. It looks fantastic and being organized feels great. More photos tomorrow.

140/366 (2012): The Sun

Tomorrow may be a solar eclipse
but pointing my camera at today's noon sun produced these results.
And don't worry, Mom, I didn't look directly at the sun.

137/366 (2012): Work, Work, Work

Ever have one of those days when all you do is work, work, work?
Then here's a little sign for your desk.

132/366 (2012): Inspiration By Margaret

Meet Margaret. She's 89 and came out to walk/run in the Right Moves for Youth's Twilight 5K Road Race and Walk in Uptown. This picture doesn't show her make-up or jewelry that matched her outfit.

131/366 (2012): Canada Geese and Babies

I went to pick up a printer cartridge and was surprised to find geese in the parking lot. Hard to believe these cute little fuzzy things will grow into obnoxious hissing poop machines just like their parents.

129/366 (2012): Graffiti Rock

Most high schools have a graffiti rock. This rock at United Faith Christian Academy on Providence Road changes almost daily, sometimes more.

128/366 (2012): An Eggplant Named Graffitti

Look what I found at the grocery store today — Eggplant Graffitti from Holland. Now that's what I call synchronicity! Not sure why, but they spelled graffiti with two T's. Either way they're beautiful, tasty and fit nicely with my graffiti theme.

127/366 (2012): Plaza-Midwood Graffiti Wall

The wall behind the Midwood Smokehouse is full of ever changing and vibrant graffiti art. Here's a section of the latest aerosol creation.

126/366 (2012): Poison Ivy Leaves Larger Than My Hands

These poison ivy leaves are huge. I've got to admit, I was a little nervous when I took this shot. It makes me itch just thinking about it. Notice the small little one growing between the slats in the center bottom of the photo.

125/366 (2012): An Unsafe Building (Keep Your Nose Away)

The sign reads 'This Building Unsafe By Order Of The Charlotte Fire Department — Fire Prevention Bureau'. If that doesn't convince you to keep out, then the massive amounts of poison ivy surrounding it will.

But that's not the real reason why this building is unsafe. It's unsafe because it's next door to a bakery that bakes pies, cinnamon rolls and doughnuts. The air is so pregnant with powder sugar, vanilla and cinnamon that in the time it took me to snap this iPhoto, I gained 5 lbs.

Want to smell this wonderful smell? Then visit the corner of Abbott Street and West Worthington Avenue, but be forewarned you might get addicted.

About Me

My photo
I love the 365 project. It allows me the opportunity to be creative every day for a year.
